FILM PROJECTS
The JA Live & Direct Series takes a fresh look at what is really
going on, on the island of Jamaica in the Caribbean. Jamaica is
not only famous for its amazing beaches, sports heroes, music,
cuisine and culture, but also its freedom fighters, such as the late
Marcus Garvey and Bob Marley. JA Live & Direct goes behind the scenes into local communities to get the view point and opinions of Jamaicans, concerning the local, current and national issues going on in their country today. In this film project the viewer is able to get a more realistic view of the island and gain a better understanding of its unique, friendly, intelligent and spiritual people, who have stood as a beacon of hope and justice, for various peoples around the world.
There are over three million British Afro-Caribbeans living in the
UK today and make up almost 3% of the population of both
England and Wales. Their story has never been fully told, so we
took the opportunity to bring to light the real reasons for the
continuing, underlying unrest in this British community, who claim to have constantly been the target of institutionalised racism, disrespect and oppression. Many from this community feel their needs have been disregarded and ignored, this documentary brings to the fore, the true experiences of the British Afro-Caribbeans and shares their journey as British citizens, spanning over seventy years and four generations!
